This year, look at the high-quality development of China's economy

It is of Paramount importance that we do a good job in economic and social development this year and make good progress in the first step of China's development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. "The implementation of the new development concept is a profound change that bears on China's overall development. We cannot simply regard GDP growth rate as the hero. We must achieve high-quality development in which innovation becomes the primary driving force, coordination becomes an endogenous feature, green development becomes common, openness becomes the only way, and sharing becomes the fundamental goal." So read a resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and historical experience of the Party's Century-old Struggle, adopted at the sixth Plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Over the past year, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made many inspection trips to local areas. He has guided the Chinese economy with wisdom and vision to move forward steadily. He has presided over many important meetings, personally promoted and made arrangements for epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, and united and led hundreds of millions of people to forge ahead.

"High-quality development of the manufacturing sector is the top priority for high-quality development of China's economy." In April this year, during an inspection tour of Liugong Group, General Secretary Xi Jinping said to the staff representatives in earnest that "high-quality development and innovation are very important".

How important is innovation in Xi jinping's mind?

"We should adhere to innovation and creation and improve the coordination of innovation chains in the industrial chain."

Over the past year, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has taken innovation as the primary driving force for development. According to the Global Innovation Index 2021 released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on Sept 20, China's global ranking in innovation has risen from 14th last year to 12th this year.
